Stefan Karl Stefansson
Stefan Karl Stefansson was an Icelandic actor and most well known for his work on the critically acclaimed kid show LazyTown where he played the sluggish main antagonist Robbie Rotten. The show had regular music interludes and always taught a lesson prompting a healthy lifestyle.
In October of 2016, Stefan announced that he had been diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer. Following this announcement, the actors’ longtime friend and head writer of LazyTown and Mark Valenti started a GoFundMe campaign in his name.
In an inspiring turn of events mean creators on YouTube saw this news and began making parodies of a clip from the show of his character before long. The We’re Number One mean became a YouTube sensation as did Stefan himself. As a result the GoFundMe reached far beyond its original goal.
Following the excitement, Stefan made his own YouTube channel and quickly gathering hundreds of thousands of subscribers. He prompted the upload of the incredibly wholesome We Are Number one live. It’s the live version with an interview, in which he and old cast members performed the song as an act of gratitude towards his supporters.
In August of 2017, the Internet collectively celebrated when Stefan declared he was in remission. Unfortunately, these high-raised hopes would prove to be premature. In March of 2018, he would disclose through Twitter that the cancer had returned and was now inoperable.
To the dismay of the entire Internet, Stefan died in his home on August 21st 2018, at the young age of 43. As per his wishes, there was no funeral, but millions around the world mourned his death.
Ronnie – Game Theory
Ronnie Edwards was a video editor best known for his work on the show Game Theory. Ronnie joined the channel very early in its life. His editing style and blocky character animation basically defined the way Game Theory would look for years to come.
He worked on the show for about five years. In that time helping it grow from a modest little series to a Titan of the YouTube gaming genre. In addition to this, Ronnie also had his very own series on the Game Theorist channel entitled: digressing and side questing, in which he took deep looks at small details or hidden elements of video games that most people would normally overlook.
For his entire life, Ronnie was struggling with depression. Unfortunately, on July 4th 2018, Ronnie was found dead in his apartment at the age of 25.
In his memory, Ronnie’s Game Theory friends such as Drake McWhorter and Matt Pat posted videos remembering their fallen friend, and marking his place in the history of the Game Theorists.
Youtubers that died : Lagarda
Fabio Andres Legarda otherwise known simply as Lagarda was a Colombian singer in YouTube. In February of 2019, while promoting his upcoming single Nutella, Legarda happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
While riding in the backseat of an uber, he found himself in the crossfire of a nearby carjacking. Legarda got hit in the head with a stray bullet, he was rushed to the hospital, but despite the best efforts of the doctors, he soon passed away from his injuries.
In his honor, a concert was held in Medellin Colombia organized by his girlfriend. The show was attended by all the YouTuber and singer friends Legarda had made over his career. The concert served as a huge celebration of his life and work.
Dr. Sean Stephenson was a therapist, author, and motivational speaker. He was born with a genetic disorder called osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease, which results in fragile bones and stunted growth. Because of these effects, Sean had a height of merely three feet and was bound to a wheelchair for his entire life.
He first began motivational speaking at the age of 17 but quickly went back to school to become a therapist to ensure he was giving insightful advice to his followers. Soon enough, his career as a celebrity speaker was booming with him earning a minimum of fifteen thousand dollars per appearance.
Despite this mainstream success, Sean hopped on the YouTube train rather early; creating his channel in 2006, on which he uploaded clips of his speeches and TV appearances, and also more personalized contents, such as daily vlogs in the occasional dance party.
On August 28th 2019, Sean suffered a concussion after an accident. Due to the some complications with a surgery, Sean died at 40 years of age. He is survived by his wife Mindy.
Reggio say known to the rap world as Combat Jack who was a Jack of all trades. In his life, he never missed a chance to pursue an opportunity, and at one point or another worked as a music attorney, journalist editor, and administrator.
Naturally, Reggie joined the YouTube game early on by beginning The Combat Jack Show in March of 2006. The show was a weekly podcast starring him and his co-star Dallas Penn, as well as, a diverse array of guests, and typically cover topics relating to hip hop, fashion trends, and current events.
Sadly, he died on December 21st 2017, due to complications of colon cancer. Due to his contributions to so many fields, his death was mourned by generations of rappers, radio hosts, and journalists alike.
Ruben Carbonell was the Spanish youtuber in Daredevil with a small Channel. he enjoyed partaking in extreme death-defying stunts. usually involving parachuting from extreme heights.
In August of 2019, Ruben and her friends snuck into a cement factory late at night. They began to scale up it’s a hundred and fifty foot chimney. Ruben planned this out just like one of his many other dives he’s done before. After jumping, he quickly realized that his parachute was malfunctioning. He tried desperately to release it as he fell, but it was no use. he died instantly when hitting the ground.
Bianca Devins was a teenager from New York with a modest social media presence. On the night of July 14th 2019, while she was on her way home from a concert, Bianca was attacked and killed by an unknown assailant. After the murderer, her attacker posted horrifying images of Bianca’s body to Discord and Instagram, sparking a reaction of shock and disgust by the Internet.
In the wake of the murderer, many people cited Bianca’s death as an example of the danger youtubers face every day on the Internet, believing her killer may have been an online stalker.
However, upon further investigation law enforcement had determined that Bianca may have known her attacker in real life, and his attack was done out of jealousy as she didn’t reciprocate the feelings he had for her. Still no matter the reason he had for killing her, Bianca’s death is a tragic example of emotion taken to the extreme.
Daniel Thomas, PeeWeeToms, had devoted his channel to blogging his battle against sarcomatoid carcinoma, a rare form of cancer he was diagnosed with in 2015.
Though his battle was an arduous and uncertain one, Daniel kept an optimistic attitude through thick and thin, inspiring his viewers to make the best of their circumstances. Though he maintained an upbeat and motivational tone throughout his content, he was never disingenuous, and always leveled with his audience when it came to the darker aspects of his journey.
Eight months after his first uploaded video, Daniel, through shaking breaths, shared the devastating results from his recent hospital scan. It determined he had extra metastases in his left lung and liver, a massive growth on his chest wall and widespread bone cancer. Not only was any assistive surgery now impossible but his lifespan was reduced to mere days.
Following this uploaded, Daniel stuck to his philosophy and made the best of his time left; feeding Galapagos Tortoises, marrying his longtime girlfriend, getting a kitten, and saying his final goodbyes to family and friends.
On September 24th 2018, Daniel recorded his final video from his hospital bed. on September 28th he passed away. 11 days after his passing, a celebration of Dan’s life was attended by loved ones and fans alike. complete with eulogies, motivational speakers, and musical performances. On November 4th, Dan was posthumously named the honorary ambassador for the youth cancer trust.
Youtubers that have died : Maxie
Maxie was a prominent youtuber in the five nights at Freddy’s community. Using source filmmaker, Maxie made 3d animated music videos starring the games animatronics. her most popular of which drew over 10 million views.
On January 8th 2020, Maxie posted an Instagram story informing her followers she was heading on a plane with her younger brother.
This flight would turn out to be none other than Ukraine International Airlines flight 752. Following the United States assassination of an Iranian general, the Iranian armed forces were on high state of defensive alert, and mistaking the plane for a cruise missile shot it down.
Maxie and her nine-year-old brother and every other passenger and crew member were killed upon impact.
Tyrone Fleming made a name for himself on YouTube starring on 848WebSeries as the cold-blooded killer Tye Bang. Set in the Bronx, the series followed the lives of different gangsters and their day-to-day struggles. The show gathered a small but loyal following.
On June 6th 2018, however, tragedy struck that would permanently derail the show’s production. As the show’s creator Abri Williams, prepared to upload the season 3 premiere, he got the call that would make this season the final one.
It turned out Tyrone was gunned down in his apartment after an unknown altercation with a stranger. He is remembered by his fiancée and two children. As well as, the show which dedicated all the remaining episodes to his memory.
