Sometimes YouTubers cross the red line when it comes to the content they create for their channels. Indeed, unique and unusual videos amass more views, likes, and reactions which make content creators rise to fame, but it might turn them into criminals as well. Here are the most famous youtubers that went to jail .
Stokes Twins
In one of their videos, Alan and Alex pretended to rob a bank. The two brothers were then pleaded guilty for reporting false crimes. The prank video that Alan and Alex filmed back in the fall of 2019 was removed later on.
If convicted on all charges, the Stokes brothers faced a maximum of five years in prison. They were eventually sentenced to one year of probation and 160 hours of community service. In addition to that, they both have had to pay restitution.
The Stokes brothers were ordered to never produce any more videos of that kind, and because of their prank videos was filmed in the University of California Irvine, they were expelled from returning there.
The prank videos that caused the brothers so much trouble involved them dressing in black garments with face masks. They filmed themselves interacting with strangers. Many people fell for this prank and thought they were real criminals who run from authoroties.
The Stokes Twins YouTube channel remains active to this day with more than 13 million subscribers. The most recent video, titled “Going Back To MIDDLE SCHOOL For A Day!” was posted nine days ago, and it’s already amassed more than eight million views.
Omi in a Hellcat
Over the past several years, Carrasquillo gained internet fame and became known by his millions of followers for showing off his glorious properties, exorbitant cars, lavish jewelry.
After a two-year investigation, the 34-year-old Carrasquillo was charged for commiting copyright infringement, tax evasion and fraud.
The allegation claimed that from 2016 to 2019, Carrasquillo created an illegal multi-million dollar TV streaming company with two partners. It claims that his company stole cable signals from other official companies like Comcast. Subscribers pay a $15 a month subscription to access the premium cable channels and on-demand movies.
Back in November of 2019, Carrasquillo’s royal house was assailed by agents who took away more than $35 million in assets. The government seized dozens of properties and more than 50 vehicles, including a $140,000 Tesla and a $233,000 Rolls Royce.
In one of his latest vidoes, Carrasquillo says he faces up to 10 years in prison.

Matías Ignacio is a Chilean former YouTuber. He became infamous for a video showing him inflicting violent, fatal abuse on his pet cat. When he first launched his YouTube channel, Matías uploaded videos sketching his stuffed animals, gameplays, as well as paint animations, which usually contained violence, blood, and high-pitched screaming.
Back in 2018, Matías published a video titled “Tortazo Slap”, in which he abused his pet cat by forcefully shoving an opened tin of cat food in his face while restraining him. The video has been deleted from the platform.
On the other hand, Peluchin has been criticized many times for making racist comments against people of other nationalities.
To make things worse, situations of sexual harassment by Matías began to appear towards his classmates back in 2017. He has sexually harassed several of his colleagues, touching them in intimate parts.
The Punta Arenas Prosecutor’s Office investigated him for having abused two companions on March 11, 2019. He had had to testify in court for being accused under the framework of the cholito law.
NotSoFantasticDevon
Devon Erickson, a 21-year-old from Denver Colorado, was convicted in back June 2021 of more than 40 charges, including first-degree murder. Devon, who has a YouTube channel under the name NotSoFantasticDevon which he launched in January 7th 2016.
Erickson partnered with fellow student named Alec McKinney who later told investigators that Erickson planned the attack for weeks and intended to target the classmates who repeatedly mocked him because he was transgender.
Erickson and McKinney targeted a classroom full of students inside a suburban Denver high school. The students were sitting in the dark as they were watching a movie. That attack led to the killing of one teenager and injuring eight others.
Erickson was 18 at the time of the attack, so he faced life sentence. After a lengthy hearing sessions, the survivors shared their sorrow, and the judge added hundreds of years of prison time to Erickson’s life sentence for multiple charges.
McKinney, who was 16 at the time of the shooting, was sentenced to life in prison but could become eligible for parole after about 20 years.
Elliot Rodger
Elliot Rodger a 22-year-old YouTuber. The son of a Hollywood filmmaker, Peter Rodger. Elliot had been uploading bizarre videos to his YouTube channel, although none contained a specific threat. Except his final one, entitled Retribution.
Elliot Rodger grew up in a life of privilege and relative affluence. His lengthy autobiography titled “My Twisted World” which he had emailed to several people, including his father, earlier that day of the massacre explores his upbringing, his mental health and his deep-rooted hatred of women, fueled by an intense frustration over his virginity.
In May 2014 in Isla Vista, California, Elliot Rodger fatally stabbed three of his friends, including his two roommates, inside his apartment, before going outside on a shooting spree. By the end of the attack, Sadly, 14 people had been wounded, either by gunshot or by being hit by Rodger’s car, and six were dead, not including Rodger, who ended his live at the end in his car.

Trey Eric Sesler was born in 1989. He lived in Texas, with his parents and older brother. Trey started his YouTube channel called Lenscap Productions in 2006. He went under the name Mr. Anime on this channel. He spent most of his time filming videos, reviewing Japanese animation, and video games.
Within five years, Seasler uploaded 323 videos to his channel and ammased almost 3 million subscribers and more than 470 million views.
Mr. Anime slightly changed his niche and started showing no typical disturbing signs of abnormal behavior. His videos involved around shootings and serial killers. Sesler was also passionate about topics related to animal abuse and violent content. Later on, He started making videos of pretending to shoot himself or random buildings with a real gun.
On March 20th, 2012, Trey shot his mother then his older brother and then his father as well. Trey had another plan of shooting students in Waller High School, But he dropped the school shooting idea and went to his friend’s house, where the police arrested him.
On August 2nd, 2012, Mr. Anime, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.
Alyssa Anne Dayvault
Alyssa Anne Dayvault, 32, of North Myrtle Beach, is former YouTube makeup artist. She was convicted in absentia of two counts of homicide by child abuse. Back in 2020, Alyssa was sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing he two newborns.
In November 2017, Alyssa secretly gave birth to a baby girl in her house. After the birth, she put the baby in a trash bag and threw her in a trash can.
Almost a year later, in December 2018, Alyssa again gave birth, this time to a boy. She again hid the birth from everyone including her ex-boyfriend. Dayvault later explained that she had passed out for about 15 minutes after giving birth and when she woke up, she was shocked to see the baby’s face has become blue. And again, she threw the child in a garbage receptacle.
Dayvault said
“I just wanted to apologize to my family, especially to my daughters, I hope that one day, they’ll be able to forgive me for what I’ve done.”
Nasim Aghdam
Nasim Aghdam a 38-year-old vegan bodybuilder and animal rights activist (as she described herself in one of her YouTube channels) from San Diego. She tackled different topics in her YouTube channel manily related to veganism and animal rights.
She believed that YouTube was discriminating against the videos she uploaded onto the platform, restricting their viewership and cutting into her income and that made her very upset.
As a result, Nasim attacked YouTube campus in San Bruno, which left three people wounded and Nasim dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
There is no equal growth opportunity on YOUTUBE or any other video sharing site, your channel will grow if they want to!!!!!
